Photography studio for rent (Aperture Studios)
Hello Everyone

As some of you may know I am in the midst of opening up a photography studio for rental to other photographers. I am mostly at this time pretty consumed with the details and have had very little time (hence why the photography club has sadly gone to the wayside). My business loan meeting is the 11th of Dec and I am currently searching out "letters of intent" from local photographers who may be interested in the studio space. Basically what I need from you are letters expressing your interest in the studio and how you feel it may be beneficial to the city of Halifax.

Let me tell you a little bit about the studio.

We hope to have a large open space located in the downtown core that will allow you much room to move and stretch out your photo shoot. The room is equipped with four large windows facing downtown on Barrington street facing the west side. All four windows will come equipped with light blocking curtains that will keep out the natural light if needed. The studio will have a full studio lighting setup in place as well as a computer system that will allow you to view your photographers on a large LCD screen as you take your photos. We hope to have a wide array of props, furniture and backdrops for your photo sessions as well as a comfortable area for you and your model or client to sit and talk and discuss your project. We also hope to provide a wide range of services such as contacts with other local photographers, makeup artists and models.

In the future we are looking to expand our serves even further by providing camera rentals, lens rentals, dark room rentals as well as the ability to store your images in our system with the ability to access them from home or show your client online what you have done for them.

The letters of intent don't have to be anything overly complicated, but need to express interested in the studio in someway. The more of these i get the better it is of course and sooner I can get started on opening up this place.

Thank you for your interest and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to e-mail me. If you have any suggestions on how we may make this better in anyway please also feel free to let me know as well. I am very open to ideas at this time. Also please feel free to forward this onto anyone you may know that would be interested in such a studio.

Back from the Couuuuuntry...
So I'm back in Halifax after a weekend trip to my Mom's in New Glasgow. I arrived back home this afternoon after a trip to Lunenburg for my mom's doctor's appointment. Several Tim Horton's coffee and a few clicks on my crappy and low capacity digital camera later, I had only 5 shots I enjoyed enough to touch-up in photoshop. Here are the images. The first few are of a historic church they're restoring. I would have gotten more pictures but it was entirely fenced off and surrounded by construction signs and equipment so I just wanted to get some shots of the very cool architecture, plus I liked the upwards angles and the opportunity to get the sky in there.. negative space and all that. The other images were in the backyard of the doctor's office my mom was visiting. It was at the top of a huge hill overlooking the town and there was a lot of garbage in the woods. I also saw a huge deer and really wanted to go and take pictures of this building I saw across the water but my mom was in a rush to drop me off get back to New Glasgow. :( Maybe another time.

Anyway here they are:

Halifax Blizzard
This picture was taken on December 27th right smack dab in the middle of the blizzard. I took this to show how hardcore Tim Horton's really is. They were the only place open at all on Barrington street that day. Here's the truck bringing in the supplies, and later it almost got stuck on the street a few metres up.

Tim Horton's is hardcoreCollapse )

photo models
Greetings everyone

Nadejda Neklioudova and myself are starting a project over the next year. We are going to create a tarot deck using photos we take over the various seasons and diffrent locations in the maritimes.

I'm posting here becasue we are going to need models for each card. We are looking for anyone and everyone of every shape and size and description. We are looking for the craziest hair and the craziest clothing you may have. We are still hashing over the story of the cards but hope to start this by the end of the month.

If you think you may be interested in posing for some photos or maybe even helping in taking some photographs please feel free to e-mail me at brian@brianlarter.com

Some random pics
I just realized I had these on my digi from New Years Day. An old man went swimming in the ocean that day. or at least made a little dip into the water. My battery went dead before that happened, but I got a pic of where it all happened.

These are taken in Shelburne.. and I'm not a photographer by any means, so no making fun :P
